| The family relocated to Skye and even though Colin had undergone major surgery, he assisted the builder as a labourer in the renovation of his house. Such was his determination to overcome problems, which most people would succumb to. His building and renovation work continued for the next 22 years. In 1984 he joined the Freemasons and continued his membership on Skye. He progressed in his masonic career and became the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies of Inverness-Shire, an Office of which he was very proud. He latterly worked as the Business Manager of Portree Medical Practice. He developed a passion for Formula One motor racing and travelled to Europe and America in his pursuit of the sport. In the last few months of his life he spent a lot of time with his brother Geoff. They both went to see another part of Colin’s passion – Drag Racing in Northamptonshire around Colin’s 60th Birthday. Colin said to his brother on the return from a trip to Mallaig pictured above, that he really loved his Freemasonry and the friends he made from this helped him through his illness. We have lost not just a friend, we have lost a very special person. Colin Leslie Kneen passed away on 14 June 2009. |
